The course runs for approximately 30 weeks, commencing early February and finishing in late November.

BAMT's Full Time Advanced Musical Theatre Course is an intensive year of musical theatre training open to graduates of BAMT's Musical Theatre Course, or external students with significant prior experience or training. The course is designed to take a deep dive into the disciples of acting, singing and dancing with a view to assisting students to becoming triple threat performers and improve eligibility for BAMT's Performance Course.

BAMT'S Full Time Advanced Musical Theatre Course is the only training program in Australia housed within a major performing arts venue (Hayward Street Studios), which is also the home of Harvest Rain, Australia's largest not-for-profit youth arts organisation and producer of musical theatre. Students are afforded the opportunity to train in the same venue where some of Australia's biggest musical theatre stars are rehearsing and performing, and the students regularly benefit from a range of formal and informal encounters with these luminaries.

Being a part of the Full Time Advanced Musical Theatre Course is an inspiring and all-consuming experience. Throughout the year, students are given the opportunity to:

  • Attend advanced classes led by industry professionals in acting, vocal skills, ensemble voice, music skills, dance performance and technique, industry prep, audition technique, wellness, music theatre, repertoire, industry engagement and fitness.

  • Refine performance skills in a nurturing environment under professional guidance

  • Participate in a number of showings and theatre presentations

  • Work on audition pieces and audition technique

  • Prepare a CV and folio for entry into the industry

  • See major theatre productions and go behind the scenes with exclusive Q&A sessions

  • Access exclusive opportunities and discounts to attend a range of theatrical and touring events

  • Meet, network and work with a range of key industry professionals, agents and casting directors from across Australia and overseas

  • Be trained in professional industry practice through representation with Dare Artist Management for the duration of their time in the course. This allows students to be put forward for external auditions, and be guided through the process of submitting self tapes, attending auditions, and if successful in securing external work, handling the rigour of professional opportunities.

Students are not only involved in daily training but are given the opportunity to work with some of Australia's most respected theatre technicians to present a public showcase at the culmination of the course.

Applicants must have completed BAMT's Musical Theatre Course or be able to show significant prior theatre experience or training. Applicants must be aged 17+ at the time of commencement. Entry is via a 3 step process of written application, skills assessment and callback where applicants will have the opportunity to showcase their performance skills. Students are accepted into the course purely on the basis of talent and potential to succeed both in the course and within the industry.

Skills assessments will commence in September 2022.

Admission is via skills assessment. Each application is assessed individually as there are a limited number of positions available. The initial assessment will take 3 hours and involve singing, acting and dance skills. Video submissions are available for interstate applicants upon application.
