Congratulations to BAMT graduate Stacey De Waard who has been cast in the role of Amber Von Tussle in the national tour of HAIRSPRAY - THE BIG FAT ARENA SPECTACULAR.
Stacey will appear alongside Simon Burke, Christine Anu, Amanda Muggleton and Tim Campbell when the show plays in Brisbane, Newcastle, Adelaide and Perth in the coming months.
"Stacey is an incredibly gifted triple threat performer," says Head of BAMT, Su Wilkinson. "She's been impressing us for years and I'm so pleased that now she will have the chance to show the rest of the country what she can do."
Stacey began studying at BAMT in 2012, and during her time at the course she performed in BAMT productions like CHICAGO and BYE BYE BIRDIE, and also played the role of Linda in Harvest Rain's production of BLOOD BROTHERS. Upon graduating in 2013, she was one of four graduates chosen to take part in Harvest Rain's industry placement program which saw her enjoy a year of professional employment working on Harvest Rain's productions of GUYS & DOLLS, CATS and SPAMALOT.
"Stacey is one of BAMT's best success stories" says producer and BAMT founder, Tim O'Connor. "She came to us as a dancer, unsure of her singing or acting ability, and over the two years she trained with us really discovered her voice and gained courage as a performer. She's an absolute powerhouse, a real knockout on stage. She's so deserving of this success she is enjoying."
Congratulations, Stacey. We can't wait to see you on stage in HAIRSPRAY!
